AI in Education

AI in Education: Now integrated in SmartBubbleGum.com

We just added AI in SmartBubbleGum. There were several reasons why we decided to add it. One of these is that it can be a good, if not great, research tool.

1. AI can be a great research tool.

AI in Education: While for the past decades most of us have relied heavily on the internet to do our research, AI is at a whole other level. One advantage is its incredible speed. In the past I was willing to use Google to research topics. But if it takes a few hours, one might give up. On the other hand AI will give you answers within seconds. At smartbubblegum.com we know that AI will be part of education in the future for this reason.

2. When doing research on the internet, you get bombarded with advertising.

After all, that is how Google or Bing gets paid. With AI you are not hit with who pays the most to get their name in front of you. In educating students it is important for students to stay focused on the subject of interest. Attention Deficit is the phenomenon of a student not paying attention to the subject of interest, but to another subject or something else instead. Advertisements try to take attention away to another subject. That is also why at SmartBubbleGum we encourage you to get the paid version of any educational app that your student likes to use, so that they are not distracted by advertisements.

I like this aspect enough that I gladly pay the monthly fee that ChatGPT charges for their most advanced version. I can’t wait for Search GPT to be released to the broad public as well. AI in education is a concept that supports education for this very reason.

3. You can fine-tune your question and go deeper into the research.

This is all very easy once you get familiar with how to ask it questions. It remembers your last prompts so you don’t have to restate them. In this regard AI is like having an ongoing conversation about a subject. Each time you can ask a further question that goes deeper into the subject. If you don’t like an answer, you just tell it so.

4. Are the answers that AI gives you accurate?

That may depend on the subject. Remember, AI is an ongoing work in progress, and still at its infant stage. That doesn’t mean it isn’t already a powerful tool. You need to learn how to evaluate its answers and then decide if you need to verify it on Google (or Bing). This is why AI is often referred to as hallucinating. This still happens frequently enough. On the other hand I still appreciate using it, and use it almost daily.

This post will be an ongoing series as AI can be a useful tool in education. Here I have touched on only one aspect of it. To learn more about how AI can transform education, visit smartbubblegum.com and read our blogs about AI.
